A project is being planned to enhance civil society participation in decision-making processes related to environmental and nature conservation at the local level in Turkey, aiming to strengthen civil society and active citizenship. Designed with the goal of a strong civil society for effective nature conservation, this project aims to strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations (CSOs) operating nationwide in Turkey. Over the course of a three-and-a-half-year project period, various trainings will be provided on topics such as advocacy, lobbying, strategic planning, volunteer management, resource development, negotiation methods, and conflict management to support CSOs. Additionally, a consultancy unit called “Nature Consultancy” will be established to provide technical and legal support to CSOs. The project aims to enable CSOs to participate in local participation mechanisms and influence decision-making processes. The “Empower the Nature” Project, implemented in partnership with eight civil society organizations from different cities, believes in the importance of strengthening CSOs, seen as significant tools of participatory democracy, and their ability to influence decisions by participating in decision-making mechanisms. The project forms the basis of a network comprising various civil structures working in the field of nature conservation and aiming to advocate for nature. Through the planned “Empower the Nature Network,” communication and collaboration among CSOs operating at the local level and those wishing to participate in nature conservation efforts will be supported, aiming to enable CSOs to actively participate in decision-making processes.
